Bees and Bubbles Cake
For my birthday this year, my sister, Christina, surprised me with a fun activity. She had assembled all the ingredients for her supremely clever idea of baking a birthday cake together in the theme of “bees and bubbles.” We made everything from scratch: the cake, Swiss buttercream, edible bubbles, and finally the white chocolate bees. To make the chocolate bees, we stamped a bee pin of mine into a base of packed brown sugar in a shallow glass dish, poured melted white chocolate into the impression, and let the chocolate set. Amazingly, once the chocolate had set, we broke apart the brown sugar and had little edible bees to adorn our cake (which we couldn’t resist dusting with edible glitter).
This month marks the second year of blogging for me, so it is with this post that I wish a very Happy Anniversary to Bees & Bubbles! I thank you endlessly, dear reader, for visiting my blog. Cheers!
