Chinoiserie Chic Tea Table
This past weekend was one of my favorite events of the year — a lovely ladies' tea benefitting world hunger relief. The table I decorated for this year’s tea was inspired by my collection of blue and white chinoiserie pottery. I wanted a pop of color to contrast against the blue and when the redbud tree in my yard was just starting to bloom, I knew how to plan my flowers! I created a redbud “tree” in the center of my table, filled in with purple irises, and in the low containers, filled with pops of magenta roses and carnations. I kept my dishes and napkins plain, opting for white. The teacups have just a subtle accent of pink and gold. Down the center of the table, I used a round blue and white tablecloth of mine (from Ikea) folded into a runner. The pattern is actually dotted with teapots and teacups! The favors were from a kit and I filled with blue-wrapped chocolate truffles. I wrote the names of my guests on paper banners, which I attached to the favor boxes, along with a pretty “tea pyramid” so each guest could enjoy a cup of tea with chocolate well after the event!
